Cross-Tenant SharePoint Migration Without the Lookup Nightmares
SP Toolkit handles the painful parts of tenant consolidation - lookup field ID mapping, cross-tenant user resolution, and version history - so you can deliver migrations faster and bill more projects.
Sound familiar?
Lookup IDs Don't Match
You migrate the list, everything looks fine. Then you open an item and every lookup field shows "Item not found." Now you're spending hours mapping old IDs to new IDs in Excel.
Users Don't Exist in Target
Cross-tenant migrations mean user fields don't resolve. You're stuck writing PowerShell to match by email, handle failures gracefully, and log what couldn't be resolved.
Version History Lost or Corrupted
Clients expect version history to survive the migration. Most tools either skip it, flatten it, or migrate versions out of order. Then you're explaining why the audit trail is broken.
SP Toolkit solves all three — automatically.

Automatic Lookup ID Remapping
Detects dependencies, migrates in the right order, and remaps IDs automatically. No more Excel mapping sheets.
Cross-Tenant User Resolution
Matches people fields across tenants by email first, then loginName, then display name. Any user that can't be matched is recorded in a fallback log (source login, field, item, reason) so you can review or reassign post-migration.
Complete Version History
File and list item versions migrated in chronological order with proper check-in comments. Audit trails intact.
Pre-Flight Validation
Validation wizard surfaces problems upfront - missing fields, type mismatches, circular dependencies. Fix before you migrate.
Client-Ready Reports
Export detailed reports - migration summary, warnings, errors, field mapping. Professional documentation for every project.
No Install Required
Deploy to SharePoint app catalog, run in any modern browser. No desktop software, no agent, no VPN required.
Templates, Webhooks & History
6 migration templates for common workloads. Webhook alerts to Teams or Slack. Full execution history with CSV/JSON export for client reporting.

SP Toolkit specializes in list and library migrations with complex requirements - automatic lookup remapping, cross-tenant user resolution, and full version history.
When to use SP Toolkit
SP Toolkit is a specialist tool for list and library migrations. Many MSPs use it alongside full-tenant migration tools like ShareGate.
Use SP Toolkit when...
- Lists have complex lookup field relationships
- You need version history migrated correctly
- User/people fields must resolve across tenants
- Validation must catch problems before migration
- You want detailed, client-ready reports
- Migration involves 10-500 lists with dependencies
Use full-tenant tools when...
- Full M&A requiring mailboxes + OneDrive + Teams
- Simple lists with no lookup dependencies
- Bulk OneDrive migrations
- Exchange/mailbox migrations
- Teams channel migrations
Pro tip: Many MSPs use ShareGate for the bulk migration, then SP Toolkit for the complex lists that need special handling.
We used SP Toolkit on a 50-list migration for an M&A client. The lookup dependency detection alone saved us a full day of troubleshooting that we usually spend figuring out the right migration order.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does licensing work for MSPs?
SP Toolkit is installed in the target tenant (where data is migrating TO). MSP plans cover multiple client tenants under one license: Starter ($4,995/yr) for up to 3 tenants, Growth ($9,995/yr) for up to 10, or Scale ($19,995/yr) for unlimited tenants.
Do my clients need to pay for the license?
That's between you and your client. Most MSPs either: (1) include the license cost in their project fee, (2) have clients purchase directly, or (3) use an MSP plan to cover all clients under one predictable annual cost.
How does cross-tenant authentication work?
You register a Microsoft Entra ID app in the source tenant (read-only permissions). The tool runs in the target tenant and reads from the source via Graph API. Your client grants consent once, then you run the migration from the target.
What if user fields can't resolve across tenants?
Users are resolved at item-write time by email first, then loginName, then display name. If no match is found, the source person's details (login/email, field, item ID, reason) are captured in a fallback log so nothing goes unrecorded. Same-tenant runs can optionally write a fallback display name into the field; cross-tenant runs leave the user field empty (a user ID can't be forged in the target tenant) and the entry appears in the migration report for review.
Can I brand the reports for my clients?
Export reports include your migration details, timestamps, and results. They're professional enough to include in client deliverables. Custom branding is on our roadmap.
Do you have a partner/reseller program?
Yes — two tracks. Referral: 25% recurring commission (paid on renewals too), non-exclusive, one-page DocuSign to formalise; unique referral code per partner for attribution. Reseller: buy licences at partner margin and invoice the customer yourself (margin negotiated on volume). A single company can do both. Contact us to get set up.
What's the difference between the MSP tiers?
MSP Starter ($4,995/yr) covers up to 3 client tenants — great for 1–3 migrations/year. MSP Growth ($9,995/yr) covers up to 10 tenants and is the sweet spot for active MSPs (pays for itself after ~2 projects). MSP Scale ($19,995/yr) is unlimited tenants with priority support and a named contact — for teams running 10+ migrations annually.
